The Good: Tyler Shough and the Saints Passing Game
New Orleans may have found their franchise quarterback. Tyler Shough leads the league in passing yards and has passed the eye test with an almost victory against the Lions and then completed an unlikely comeback on the road against the Ravens in Week 2. His passcatchers, namely Chris Olave, De’Vaughn Vele and Juwan Johnson have all benefited from this increased passing volume. It’s with Olave especially that we see that elite WR1 ceiling where he can hang with guys like Justin Jefferson and Ceedee Lamb on the weekly WR rankings.
The Bad: Quarterbacks to Dynamic Young QBs
Injuries to young quarterbacks will sink a lot of prominent offenses in 2026. Caleb Wiliams, Jayden Daniels and Jackson Dart all suffered injuries of various degrees in Week 2 and their offenses immediately stagnated with the backups. It looks like Caleb Williams will have the shortest path to returning which will help Ben Johnson’s offense on their quest to a historic points scored season. The Commanders and Giants may not be so lucky as they will have to turn to backups for a majority of the season, if not the remainder of the season.
The Ugly: The Chargers
What the hell is going on with the Chargers? I can’t explain what is happening with this highly hyped team and whether it boils down to coaching, players or probably a mix of both. The offseason acquisition of Mike McDaniels was exciting to fantasy GMs who foresaw career seasons coming for Justin Herbert, Omarion Hampton and Ladd McConkey. Returning their two high pedigree offensive tackles also provided a big boost to Chargers’ stocks in 2026, but it seems like all of these highly priced puzzle pieces are not fitting together after shocking losses to the Cardinals and Raiders in the first two weeks. The Chargers have a hell of a schedule gauntlet coming up and now just breaking even will require a Herculean effort.
The Good: The Chiefs Are Back
Adding the reigning Superbowl MVP to a lackluster Chiefs offense from 2025 completely unlocked this team in 2026. The Chiefs resurgence can not be understated as they look like a true dual threat team with teams having to respect the run and now getting burned by Mahomes through the air again. Kenneth Walker was the prized offseason acquisition of the NFL and currently leads the league in rushing yards. With everyone holding their breath on Mahomes’ rushing efforts and the integrity of his leg, they can breathe a sigh of relief seeing him uncork deep passes to Tyquan Thornton as evident on their past Sunday night matchup against the Colts. Travis Kelce has turned back the clock this season and looks like one of the top tight ends in the league again.
The Bad: Atlanta Needs to Figure out the QB Situation
The Atlanta Falcons have assembled a world class Ferrari with Bijan Robinson in the backfield and Drake London and Kyle Pitts on the edges. Yet, somehow they hired Stevie Wonder to drive the car. The quarterback situation went from bad to worse in Week 2 with catastrophic performances from Cooper Rush and preseason favorite Jack Strand who came in the game and immediately threw a pick six. The Falcons wasted no time announcing Michael Penix as the starter early in Week 3 and it feels like his job to lose at this point.
