I just want to start by saying I don’t want to give out any grades or really speak negative about anyone’s team. It’s so early on and the season is very long. Anything can happen and it is way too soon to say who had the best draft or crown a champ this early on. I am just going to highlight some great things I see about everyone’s team and maybe something that they should keep an eye on going forward during the year. So, let’s get to it.
FFC SOUTH
Da Moon’s HUGE CRATERS: All offseason I wanted Travis Kelce and sure enough I got to lock that pick in at #5. He is the greatest TE to ever play in the NFL and in a year where we had to draft a TE no matter what I walked away with the goat. I was able to sure up a better qb this time around compared to last year and I got the Costco brand of QB’s in my man Kirkland Cousins. Costco membership just saw a huge increase in new sign ups after today. I’m a little concerned I took the pats defense with a tough schedule and I may regret that moving forward.
Doctor Jenious: Super jealous that the dr got his qb again from last year in Jaylen hurts. I like that you snatched up Darren Waller as your TE as I feel like he was the last TE I valued as a quality set it and forget TE. The AJ brown combo with Hurts is pretty scary and I am not looking forward to our week 1 matchup. I am hoping to leave the Dr. office with a sucker and “you be ok” but I think I am just fooling myself and I may need to go to the ER after my visit. Risky play with Michael pitman as a wr plays knowing he has a rookie qb but I think that will be the thing to keep an eye out on.
Bruce Almighty: Taking Josh Allen as QB 2 in our league I got no problem with seeing. Last year 6 out of the 7 teams that made the playoffs all had a top 10 qb so there is a case to be made to take your qb early. I love that Davonte Adams fell back to you again as there is concern about the qb throwing him the ball is the problem. I think Adams is elite regardless of his qb and you made a good pick there. You waited a long time to take a tight end and I would say that might become a streaming option now for your during the year that will only give you a headache as the year goes on. I recommend Excedrin for that, cause your going to need it.
Uur Ups: I think Saquon Barkley fell so far and you landed him at pick 15 might be the steal of the first round. You knew Rodgers was not going to make it back to you if you didn’t take him when you did and I love that you committed to having him in hopes that he will have that bounce back season. There might be a little bit too much love for Green Bay or the NYJ teams on this fantasy roster so if those teams play poorly, it might really hurt you in fantasy. That was risk you were willing to take so we will have to see how it plays out.
FFC North
Isla Sorna Raptors: Taking CMC with the number 1 pick is the right move to make when it feels like lately the RB spot has become a bit of a mixed bag. I love that you paired him up with Etienne as well. I think Fields has the potential to be a top 5 fantasy qb in our league and I am ok with that pick. Riskey game we play in our league when you draft 2 rbs before a wr always shows the depth in wr position. I think there is always free agents to find on the waiver even in a 16-man league, but you might want to lock that spot up to solidify you’re the elite rbs + qb combo you made.
Korriban Warriors: I am a huge fan of seeing Austin Ekeler be the 2nd rb off the board as I think that he is a true every down rb. I love that you also got Olave as I feel like he is a game changing WR. I also think that M. Brown could be a steal in our league. Many would agree that Arizona looks bad on paper this year but they have to throw the ball to somebody and I think he will have plenty of targets this year. Although I think Justin Herbert is a great fantasy qb I don’t always like seeing QB – RB pairing from the same NFL team on my fantasy team. Does not feel the same as a stack of QB – Wr. This may be an exception to that thought as Ekeler caught over 100 passes last year but I would keep my eye out on that going forward.
Jedi Knights: There is a lot to like here with Chase, Debo, and JT. I think all 3 of those guys can win you a game on their own. I am ok with taking Kareem hunt even though he doesn’t play for anyone yet. All signs point to him picking a good landing spot and giving himself a chance to play right away. I am a little concerned with Tua at qb as concussion’s have been a major concern for him. You backed him up with Anthony Richardson and I think it might be maybe 1 more year before Richardson is ready to be a top 10 level qb with his abilities. Qb will be your biggest thing to monitor but then again you may have a gem on your bench.
Pool of Dead: Tyreek Hill and A. St Brown talk about a solid combo at Wr’s. I like Kenneth walker where you took him and even though SEA drafted another RB, I think Walker is still a safe RB pick. I am also ok with Watson being your qb. He has similar play to Justin Fields but had a cheaper draft capital spot where you took him. I am a little worried about calvin ridley being wr3 on the team. I know reports sound good about him in camp, but he has been off a year and I think he is a true wild card and its hard to say if he was worth the risk.
FFC EAST
Gandalf The Goat: You drafted the first QB off the board and I love it. You have consistently made playoffs and you believe in that strategy and have stuck to it. I think you got a late round steal in James Cook. Having an elite Wr in C. Lamb is great too. I am a little worried about Breece Hall coming back from injury and NYJ just signing Davlin Cook. Having J. Williams coming back later in the year from suspension may be biggest wild card on this team. You locked up a Top Tier TE and I feel like that will be a must this year.
Team Name #1: Got no problem with seeing you take burrow as I feel like he is the last of the elite highest tier level qbs in the league before the next level of qbs. I think Diggs is also still a top 5 wr. I think T. Mclaurin and Odell beckham could be consistently good plays for you going forward. I do think you might be watching free agency a bit waiting for the right RB to become available to you as your first RB you drafted was I. Pacheco. I think that will be the thing you will be monitoring to try and solidify this team to make another run at the playoffs.
Mahomies’ Deezflated Nutz: I love having pick 16 in our league and I really like that you went with the RB + RB combo in Mixon and A. jones. I am also a fan of M. Evans as I feel like he is one of the best wrs to play in the league for a high level for a long time. I am also a fan of the depth on this team as C. Sutton is actually currently a bench player since the rest of your lineup looks purdy good…Speaking of that guy I think you took him way too soon. I know in the BFFL it is mostly 49er fans so I completely understand the want to go out and draft with your heart sometimes. I think in this moment your heard should have taken over because I think he could have fallen back to you again before you took him. Then again, he may be able to pick up where he left off last year and then it doesn’t matter that you took him when you did.
Slam Ball 2k23: You wanted Bijan Robinson and you guys got Bijan Robinson. I think his talent and upside was worth the early pick and I have no problem taking that risk on a rookie rb with his skills. I am also a fan of T. Lawerence. He was a qb I was thinking about getting with all that talent around him. J. waddle in my opinion is the best wr2 on any NFL team and his numbers speak for me to back that statement up. Having DK Metcalf is just a nice little icing on the cake for this team. I think you might look back and regret you waited on taking TE. Higbee had only 1 game last year where he scored more then 9 points and that would be my biggest concern for this team.
FFC WEST
Elk Grove Spartans: Really impressed that you guys went with Cooper Kupp as I still feel like the ram’s offense goes through him. Little bit scary drafting Josh Jacobs but he has like 9 kids I’m sure he will sign the franchise tag any day now. Miles Sanders is the offense I believe in Carolina so hopefully he can make it work with a rookie Qb. I am also a fan of D. Hopkins as he definitely has something to prove still. Will Kyle Pitts finally have his break out season that ATL drafted him for? Hopefully Geno Smith was not a 1-year wonder and can have a similar season again as last year as he was qb 5 in our league. IF not, you could always try dak…
The Sacramento Wolf Pack: D. Henry kept slipping and slipping until the big man landed in your lap. Still the most elite pure non PPR RB year after year until something changes. Tony Pollard was electric last year and this could be a scary combination in your backfield. Big fan of Amari Cooper and J. Jeudy. Daniel Jones only threw 15 passing tds last year but still managed to be QB 8 in our league. I think new head coach was a perfect match for him last year, but now that he got paid this is either his make-or-break year in my opinion. Will he be the stumbling goof from a few years ago or will he build on what he started last year?
Lin Sanity: The champ is back and I think he has some solid players here. I love Mark Andrews and think he is a game changer even when you are not mandated to start a TE. Getting nick Chubb and j. Williams as your 2 rbs is really scary good. I also love that your got Christian Kirk as he was the wr I was targeting in Jax after his break out year last year finishing at wr 11 in our league. Easily the biggest glaring thing to look at is your QB spot. Last year Russel Wilson forgot how to play football and your backup Mac jones was just as confused. If Wilson reclaims any relevance of his prior years under a new coach, then this team will be one to watch out for. If Wilson ends up outside of the top 16 in our league, then this might be a long year.
Philippine Garbage Dumps: JJ all day baby! Love that guy and even in a non ppr league he is as good as it gets. Pretty sweet pairing with Lamar Jackson as I feel like Lamar comes in at that 2nd tier of qbs in our league. I also don’t have an issue with James conner and Dameon pierce as your rbs. Honestly this team may be the best team I have seen you draft in a long time. Then you went and took the first Kicker and defense before anyone else did as both of those positions. I will say it may still pay off for your but it could come back to haunt you as you might have wanted to go with some more depth on your roster before making those sections.
