Week 2 Power Rankings (09-20-2023)

This highlight of the week features a successful hail mary. Although thrown short of the goal line, the ball took some fortunate bounces to be caught for an opportunity to tie the game on a 2-point conversion.

Week 2 High Scorer: Lin Sanity (114.5)

1.) Pool of the Dead

Overall Record: 2-0
Divisional Record: 2-0
Total Points Scored: 204.5
Position Last Week: 1
Notes: It was a late Monday night football sweat but the Pool pull out the 2-0 start and maintain their dominance in the league. Kenneth Walker found the end zone twice and looks to be establishing a goal line role.

2.) Mahomies’ Deezflated Nuts

Overall Record: 2-0
Divisional Record: 2-0
Total Points Scored: 185.8
Position Last Week: 5
Notes: It’s usually a rare feat to get one receiver to over 20 fantasy points in standard scoring, but to get two of them is just unfair. That’s what Mike Evans and Keenan Allen did as their monster games propelled the MD Nuts to the division lead.

3.) Lin Sanity

Overall Record: 2-0
Divisional Record: 2-0
Total Points Scored: 158.7
Position Last Week: 8
Notes: It was quite a strong bounceback week for Tee Higgins who found the end zone twice and some nice late game heroics from Russell Wilson and the Steelers defense to get the weekly high scorer in Week 2.

4.) Uur UPS

Overall Record: 2-0
Divisional Record: 2-0
Total Points Scored: 151.1
Position Last Week: 3
Notes: The injury bug bites again and this time it’s star RB Saquon Barkley who went off in Week 2. The good news is it doesn’t look to be a severe long term injury and Barkley will be a game time decision and week to week with what is described as a normal ankle sprain.

5.) Korriban Warriors

Overall Record: 2-0
Divisional Record: 2-0
Total Points Scored: 185.2
Position Last Week: 6
Notes: The Warriors have cruised two weeks in a row averaging over 90 fantasy points a game. The biggest surprise on this team is second year receiver Nico Collins who has seen 20 targets in two weeks and is currently the WR6 on the year.

6.) Da Moon’s Huge Craters

Overall Record: 2-0
Divisional Record: 2-0
Total Points Scored: 141.5
Position Last Week: 7
Notes: Speaking of bounce backs, it was nice to see Drake London utilized in the offense after posting a bagel in Week 1. The return of Kelce obviously injected much needed life into this offense and we got a closer glimpse to how good this team can be.

7.) No Diggity…about to bag it up

Overall Record: 1-1
Divisional Record: 1-1
Total Points Scored: 159.7
Position Last Week: 11
Notes: One of the biggest debates in the preseason was who was going to take over the Washington Commanders backfield workhorse role. The answer is a resounding Brian Robinson who is averaging 18.5 carries and is currently the RB2 on the season.

8.) Gandalf the Goat

Overall Record: 1-1
Divisional Record: 1-1
Total Points Scored: 158.6
Position Last Week: 2
Notes: It was a quiet Week 2 for Breece Hall who looked to be on the way back to a fantasy dominant role in the season opener. The good news is James Cook is finally getting the role fantasy managers wanted last season and he looks like a three down back.

9.) Philippines Garbage Dumps

Overall Record: 1-1
Divisional Record: 1-1
Total Points Scored: 147.7
Position Last Week: 4
Notes: It’s always tough to put up 90 points and lose but these are the bad luck schedule losses that teams face every once in a while. There’s really nothing negative to point out as this squad looks solid and well balanced.

10.) Sacramento Wolf Pack

Overall Record: 1-1
Divisional Record: 1-1
Total Points Scored: 130.8
Position Last Week: 16
Notes: Talk about another late Monday night sweat; this one hinged on an improbable Miles Sanders vs Hayden Hurst battle where the latter was the victor. The Wolf Pack saw a much needed bounce back game from Daniel Jones in one of the easier opponents on his schedule which is a good sign.

11.) Elk Grove Spartans

Overall Record: 0-2
Divisional Record: 0-2
Total Points Scored: 140.9
Position Last Week: 12
Notes: It was a tough loss for the Spartans as they look to keep the ship afloat before Cooper Kupp’s return. The prize free agent of Week 1 and possibly the entire season, Puka Nacua looks like the real deal and could be a weekly starter even after Kupp’s return.

12.) SLAM BALL 2K23

Overall Record: 0-2
Divisional Record: 0-2
Total Points Scored: 130.7
Position Last Week: 9
Notes: Always fun to lose your matchup at 11am on Sunday Morning…

13.) Isla Sorna Raptors

Overall Record: 0-2
Divisional Record: 0-2
Total Points Scored: 128.6
Position Last Week: 10
Notes: Justin Fields has been one of the biggest disappointments in this young 2023 fantasy season. This team is hinging on his success and taking a massive leap forward as a passer this season.

14.) Bruce Almightys’

Overall Record: 0-2
Divisional Record: 0-2
Total Points Scored: 115.8
Position Last Week: 15
Notes: Josh Allen had a nice bounce back game but this team could not get enough help from the running backs or tight end this week to get the much needed win.

15.) Jedi Knights

Overall Record: 0-2
Divisional Record: 0-2
Total Points Scored: 114.9
Position Last Week: 13
Notes: Tua is now the MVP frontrunner and there is another budding star quarterback on the bench. I expect this team to be active in the trade market to get some much needed help.

16.) Doctor Jenious

Overall Record: 0-2
Divisional Record: 0-2
Total Points Scored: 111.4
Position Last Week: 14
Notes: The Jenious has been another public advocate for making big changes and even offering Jalen Hurts up in trade packages. I can see this team also making some changes in the upcoming weeks.
