#7 Da Moon’s Huge Craters at #2 Doctor Jenious
A division rivalry reignited. I will do my best not to be biased on this one, but let’s be real #downwithJ. Make no doubts about it: this ain’t no patty cake matchup, this is personal and winner gets bragging rights for an entire offseason. The entire South division is super close even in the offseason so this one is a pay-per-view matchup to us. Justin chases his first ever playoff win and I chase a 2nd championship. In looking at this matchup the biggest advantage goes to the Dr at the QB battle. Jalen Hurts is the clear cut #1 QB in fantasy and he has scored 20 or more points in all but 1 week this whole season. Even that one week he didn’t score 20 points, he still managed double digits. Da Moon will be playing the old ass divorced GOAT this week and I am not necessarily excited about it, but I made a mid-season trade for this man and I would like to think he has been way more stable than Derek Carr. RB advantage goes to DA MOON. CMC ranks rb #3 and Miles Sanders ranks #8 vs the Dr RBs in lineup are currently Pacheco ranked 38 and Cam Akers ranked 51. I do like the matchup of Pacheco playing the last ranked def against RBs in HOU, but the edge at RB on paper goes to DA MOON. WR advantage goes to the DR and in this case its not very close again. DR Malpractice has JJ WR1, Kelce, TE1, and at the moment DJ Chark in a high-flying Detroit offense. DA Moon is rolling out soft ass Michael Pittman, has anyone seen Mark Andrews, and I got Adam Thielen. Huge advantage to the Dr on that one and I can’t even pretend to argue that one. We have #1 ranked defense NE for DA moon and #7 ranked defense NYJ for J. Lastly its Buttkicker vs Greg the Leg. We split the division series 1-1 and now its time to find out if Justin can break his playoff curse or will his all-star team be doomed to wait another year. Prediction DA MOON’s HUGE CRATERS wins 160 to 66.6
#6 Elk Grove Spartans at #3 Pool of Dead
Pool of dead was holding on strong for a chance at the #1 seed for awhile and saw it slip away final couple weeks of the season, but make no mistake about it this team is still very well rounded. Spartans find themselves in familiar territory in the playoffs once again. They are champs for a reason and I really like this matchup between both teams. At QB we have Joe cool for Pool of Dead vs Tuna Tagolviolaiagalalal (close enough). A few weeks ago, I would have said this is an even wash but as of lately Burrow would be the favorite in this dual. Pool of Dead is rolling out 1 RB in Aaron Jones vs D’Andre Swift and Jeff Wilson. Swift has lost so many goals line carries to Williams and Jeff Wilson plays for a pass happy team. I give the slight very small edge to Aaron Jones on Monday night and I can see all things coming down to his performance to decide the winner on this match. Now then the rest of the WR matchup for Pool of Dead is Hopkins, A. St Brown, Higgins, and Dalton shultz vs Diggs, Pickens, and Zay Jones. On paper I would have given the edge to Pool of Dead but Higgins has a really bad hammy that last I heard for a shady Dr I know might not make this week. If that ends up being the case that would be a huge blow and make Diggs the favorite in my opinion since Murray got hurt and that hurts Hopkins. So, we will have to wait and see about Higgins. Here is my big shocker but the defense battle is BUFfor Pool of Dead and KC for the spartans. Sure, it sounds easy to say BUF is better and advantage goes to Pool of Dead but KC plays HOU and they suck. So, I give the edge at the defense battle to the Spartans and its not even close. If you have seen any HOU game this year besides random battle last week for the 2 Texas teams they truly look like a team that has tanked their way to the #1 pick in the draft. Lastly its Suckitupbuttercup for kicker for Pool of Dead vs Brett Myhair for the Spartans. I really like this all around and I am torn who I think wins this. I think if Higgins plays Pool of Dead wins but if Higgins does not play then the Spartans win.
#5 How I Kmet Your Mother at #4 Gandalf the Goat
Another Divisional Matchup going down in this one. Gandalf won both of the regular season games but that don’t matter now as it’s win or go home time. If you had told me to start the year Geno Smith would be QB5 in our league I would have told you that you were crazy but he is and that def played a huge part in what helped HIKYM make a run this season. Gandalf will be rocking with their #1 draft pick Josh Allen who has not been bad but has not been great as of lately. I think that changes this week and I really like the Geno Smith story but I truly think SF defense is for real and Geno plays them in a primetime Thursday night matchup. If Geno gets over 15 points in this matchup that would be amazing but I think he ends up short of 10 points. Josh Allen has the Miami DEF this week and they rank 29th against QBs. The RBs for both teams are crazy exciting. HIKYM has Tony Pollard who scores just about as many times as he touches it and he has Stevenson from NE who is the main piece of that terrible offense. Gandalf has #1 ranked RB Josh Jacobs (who would have guessed that one) and #7 ranked Saquon Barkley. On paper I give the edge to Gandalf but I don’t like the RB matchups this week for Gandolf for those RBs as Jacobs plays against NE and Saquon plays against Washington on Sunday night. so, I actually give surprise edge to HIKYM. WRs are also very exciting for both teams. How I Kmet yo momma has Ceedee Lamb, Jamar Chase, and Greg Dulchich. Gandalf has G Wilson, Mike Williams, and OG Lockett. So, I would say Ceedee and Jamar are scary but Gandalf is a bit more balanced all around with Dulcich being the outlier. Lastly HIKYM has ravens defense and McMuffin at kicker and Gandalf has GB and the greatest kicker the NFL has ever seen Justin tucker. I personally would like to see a new champion this year and kudos to Casey for a chance to 3 beats but I will be rooting for HIKYM.
Thank you Chet for providing the wildcard round previews this week. Good luck to all GMs in the first round of the playoffs!
