Week 8 Power Rankings (11-02-2022)

1.) Pool of the Dead

Overall Record: 6-2
Divisional Record: 4-0
Total Points Scored: 661
Position Last Week: 1
Notes: The injury to Jamar Chase has provided a roadmap for Tee Higgins to be a top 5 receiver in the next couple of weeks and the Pool of the Dead have to capitalize on that to gain some lead as the top ranked team. While their 4-0 divisional record has kept them at the top, they will need some bigger games to match the offensive firepower of teams like Lin Sanity and Gandalf the Goat.

2.) Lin Sanity

Overall Record: 6-2
Divisional Record: 3-1
Total Points Scored: 738.5
Position Last Week: 2
Notes: Tough day at the office as Lin Sanity drops a close one with Patrick Mahomes on his bye week. Expect this team to return to business as usual with the star quarterback coming back to the helm for the rest of the season.

3.) Gandalf the Goat

Overall Record: 6-2
Divisional Record: 3-1
Total Points Scored: 734.4
Position Last Week: 3
Notes: It’s rare to see Josh Allen only score in the teens and I can’t imagine we will see it much more often, if at all this season. The Mike Williams injury has forced the Goat to dip into the reserves at receiver but I imagine Garrett Wilson has earned the role going forward at WR3.

4.) Da Moon’s Huge Craters

Overall Record: 4-4
Divisional Record: 3-1
Total Points Scored: 599.8
Position Last Week: 4
Notes: Now locked into a three way tie for the division, the Craters have got to get out of their offensive funk and start scoring some points. The good news is Christian McCaffrey is retaining his elite usage rate and looks like he has stepped into an upgraded situation after just eight days of being traded.

5.) Elk Grove Spartans

Overall Record: 6-2
Divisional Record: 3-1
Total Points Scored: 603.4
Position Last Week: 5
Notes: Despite missing two games this season, Tua is now a top 10 quarterback. He has had a couple of spike games and has shown that against exploitable pass defenses he will air it out and has some of the game’s best weapons to do so.

6.) How I Kmet Your Mother

Overall Record: 5-3
Divisional Record: 1-3
Total Points Scored: 658.7
Position Last Week: 8
Notes: Congratulations to everyone’s favorite neighbor for completing an incredible 4 game sweep of the FFC North and has come within one game of the division lead. Despite having no Jamar Chase, this team managed to score an impressive 108 fantasy points behind a breakout game from Tony Pollard.

7.) Sacramento Wolfpack

Overall Record: 4-3-1
Divisional Record: 1-2-1
Total Points Scored: 590.9
Position Last Week: 9
Notes: Welcome to the playoff wildcard mix and welcome to the 2022 fantasy season to Alvin Kamara who found the endzone for the first time this season. And then he found it two more times.

8.) Doctor Jenious

Overall Record: 4-4
Divisional Record: 3-1
Total Points Scored: 613
Position Last Week: 6
Notes: It was kind of amazing to see that Jalen Hurts scored over half this team’s fantasy points in a loss but got virtually no help. The shocking stat of the week so far is Justin Jefferson has not scored a touchdown since Week 1!

9.) Mahomies Deezflated Nuts

Overall Record: 4-4
Divisional Record: 3-1
Total Points Scored: 545.9
Position Last Week: 7
Notes: Scary sight for MD Nuts who saw Cooper Kupp get injured in a meaningless garbage time play but reports are indicating he will be good to go in Week 9. Getting Edwards-Helaire back off bye weeks will help bolster their thin running back depth.

10.) Isla Sorna Raptors

Overall Record: 4-4
Divisional Record: 2-2
Total Points Scored: 681.3
Position Last Week: 10
Notes: It was a running back bonanza for the Raptors who look ridiculously stacked at the position and are in a great spot to make some trades to help the receivers group. An amazing stat is four out of their five running backs on the roster scored a touchdown and all finished in the top 12 scoring for the week at the position.

11.) Bruce Almightys

Overall Record: 4-4
Divisional Record: 1-3
Total Points Scored: 556.9
Position Last Week: 11
Notes: Very quietly this team has won three out of the last four games after starting 1-3 and are tied for the division lead. Despite being behind on tiebreakers, there is a golden opportunity for a team with a great GM who has shown he can make trades and free agent acquisitions for a late season playoff push.

12.) Korriban Warriors

Overall Record: 3-5
Divisional Record: 1-3
Total Points Scored: 510
Position Last Week: 12
Notes: Injuries often lead to opportunities and now Devin Duvernay has a chance to step up to the plate with Bateman and Andrews both banged up to become Lamar Jackson’s #1 target. The Warriors have still not found consistency at the running back position which is holding this team back.

13.) Philippines Garbage Dumps

Overall Record: 2-5-1
Divisional Record: 0-3-1
Total Points Scored: 596.9
Position Last Week: 15
Notes: DJ Moore’s late game heroics pushed this team to a second victory in the last three weeks. With such a stacked division, the chance of a late season divisional push seems unlikely but this team is certainly talented enough to get into the wildcard mix if they go on a hot streak.

14.) SLAM BALL 2K22

Overall Record: 2-6
Divisional Record: 1-3
Total Points Scored: 532.9
Position Last Week: 12
Notes: The worst part is Nick Chubb’s career year being wasted on a 2-6 team.

15.) Jedi Knights

Overall Record: 2-6
Divisional Record: 1-3
Total Points Scored: 545.5
Position Last Week: 16
Notes: Upsetting the highest scorer in the league was the biggest shocker of the weekend. AJ Brown’s three touchdown game came at a great time to breathe some life into this team that suffered the brutal loss of Breece Hall the week before.

16.) Uur UPS

Overall Record: 1-6
Divisional Record: 1-3
Total Points Scored: 547.6
Position Last Week: 15
Notes: With the rest of the division performing so poorly over the last four weeks, there is still an outside chance for this team to rise up and get back into the mix. Outside of a blockbuster trade or hidden gem of a free agent acquisition, it does not seem likely.
