Week 1 Power Rankings (09-15-21)

Jameis Winston post game interview

This week’s highlight of the week involves a motivational message from Jameis Winston. Before we get to the power rankings I want to remind you that we will have 7 playoff teams this year so only the #1 seed will earn a bye.

1.) Korriban Warriors

Overall Record: 1-0
Divisional Record: 1-0
Total Points Scored: 117.6
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: Another season and the Warriors are near the top of the power rankings once again. Russell Wilson’s explosive four touchdown game might be a precursor to an MVP run and another shot at playoff glory for the Warriors.

2.) Da Moon’s Huge Craters

Overall Record: 1-0
Divisional Record: 1-0
Total Points Scored: 110.1
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: A change of scenery for Stafford unlocked his potential as he aired it out on a monstrous 30 point performance and started the season off strong for the Craters. The roster looks good with only one looming question mark over Saquon Barkley’s reliability.

3.) Mahomies’ Deezflated Nuts

Overall Record: 1-0
Divisional Record: 1-0
Total Points Scored: 105.9
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: It was a blowout victory for the Nuts who grab a strong grip on the division hold after one week. Strong performances from Kamara, Gordon, Kelce and Prescott arguably create the best starting lineup in the league.

4.) Lin Sanity

Overall Record: 1-0
Divisional Record: 1-0
Total Points Scored: 80.6
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: Lin Sanity suffered a blow to sophomore breakout candidate Jerry Jeudy who looks to miss 6-8 weeks. With such a strong receiving core ahead of Jeudy and Damien Harris looking like a solid RB starter, Lin Sanity should have the depth to overcome this injury obstacle.

5.) Ernie’s Rubber Duckies

Overall Record: 1-0
Divisional Record: 1-0
Total Points Scored: 104.7
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: The Duckies start off 2021 with the same strong momentum that carried them into the playoffs in 2020. Kyler Murray put on an absolute show with five total touchdowns and looks like he’s taken his game to a whole new level this season.

6.) Uur UPS

Overall Record: 1-0
Divisional Record: 1-0
Total Points Scored: 95.7
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: When you factor in two bad performances from Tannehil and Najee Harris and look at the total points scored for this squad, the upside is terrifying. The fact is this might be the best squad in the entire league top to bottom factoring in depth.

7.) Sacramento Wolf Pack

Overall Record: 1-0
Divisional Record: 1-0
Total Points Scored: 77.5
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: Jalen Hurts carried the ball 7 times for 62 yards but his upside will be dictated by how much he’s developed as a passer in year 2. He certainly passed the eye test on Sunday and may have a 2020 Josh Allen-esque ascension if he continues to evolve as a passer.

8.) Gandalf the Goat

Overall Record: 1-0
Divisional Record: 1-0
Total Points Scored: 74.2
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: With 68 fantasy points on the bench, the defending champion has to feel pretty good about his bench depth in a long and grueling season. It will be difficult to keep Ja’Marr Chase on the bench much longer if he continues to thrive as an electrifying playmaker.

9.) Pool of the Dead

Overall Record: 0-1
Divisional Record: 0-1
Total Points Scored: 101.1
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: It’s difficult to take a week 1 loss when you’ve scored 100+ points and have the makeup of a solid playoff contender. I don’t expect Derrick Henry to get bottled up like he did on Sunday against the Cardinals and should get this team rolling in Week 2.

10.) Bruce Almightys

Overall Record: 0-1
Divisional Record: 0-1
Total Points Scored: 90.8
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: There’s a lot of positive takeaways from this team in Week 1 such as the receiver core might be the best in the entire league. This looks like a potentially high powered and competitive divisional race and it will be up to Baker Mayfield to push this team over the edge.

11.) Philippines Garbage Dumps

Overall Record: 0-1
Divisional Record: 0-1
Total Points Scored: 68.8
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: Tough break for the PGD who got the devastating news that third round pick Raheem Mostert will undergo season ending surgery. The good news is that this team has fantastic RB depth and has guys like AJ Dillon and Devin Singletary ready to step up into a startable RB2 role right away

12.) Jedi Knights

Overall Record: 0-1
Divisional Record: 0-1
Total Points Scored: 68.5
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: The colossal disappointment of the Packers game tanked Aaron Jones’ production on Sunday. The biggest bright spot is that Darren Waller may be on track to have one of the greatest seasons for a tight end and consistent volume and target monster.

13.) Doctor Jenious

Overall Record: 0-1
Divisional Record: 0-1
Total Points Scored: 67.1
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: The issue is not and will never be Patrick Mahomes, it’s the challenge of building a good team around a first round quarterback selection. James Robinson and Kyle Pitts both delivered stinkers on Sunday but rookie receiver Devonta Smith might be the surprise breakout player on this squad.

14.) Elk Grove Spartans

Overall Record: 0-1
Divisional Record: 0-1
Total Points Scored: 60.7
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: I had to do a double take when I saw this box score from Aaron Rodgers who looked completely lost out there after a 2020 MVP campaign. With a soft matchup against Detroit, this is the perfect “get right” spot for Rodgers and the Spartans to bounce back nicely.

15.) SLAM BALL 2K21

Overall Record: 0-1
Divisional Record: 0-1
Total Points Scored: 60.5
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: It’s always humbling to get your ass whooped in Week 1.

16.) Hot Pocket Hot Locket

Overall Record: 0-1
Divisional Record: 0-1
Total Points Scored: 58.5
Position Last Week: N/A
Notes: Disappointing start to the season for HPHL who only managed to get one player in double digits but will enjoy more favorable matchups in Week 2 as Justin Herbert will enjoy a shootout potential against Dallas.
