Week 8 Power Rankings (11-04-2020)

1.) Bruce Almightys

Overall Record: 6-2
Divisional Record: 3-1
Total Points Scored: 738.8
Position Last Week: 1
Notes: My midseason MVP pick is Dalvin Cook and it’s not close. This four touchdown effort against rival Green Bay was an all time classic fantasy football highlight reel that will be the game we look back on at the end of this season.

2.) Korriban Warriors

Overall Record: 6-2
Divisional Record: 3-1
Total Points Scored: 682.2
Position Last Week: 2
Notes: Davante Adams is playing the best at the receiver position in the last couple of weeks with another incredible performance bringing in three touchdowns. Justin Jackson finally broke out with his first 10+ point week of the season and this will be crucial to the running back depth as the season winds down.

3.) Elk Grove Spartans

Overall Record: 6-2
Divisional Record: 3-1
Total Points Scored: 631.2
Position Last Week: 3
Notes: The Steelers defense completely dominated the week finishing as the game high scorer and #2 fantasy defense of the week with a touchdown, four turnovers and completely smothered the reigning MVP Lamar Jackson. The Spartans will now be tasked with replacing Mike Davis who will quickly lose his RB1 status with the return of McCaffrey.

4.) Mahomies Deezflated Nuts

Overall Record: 5-3
Divisional Record: 3-1
Total Points Scored: 749.8
Position Last Week: 4
Notes: The Nuts have managed to win two in a row without stud running back Aaron Jones and have found nice replacement value in Jamaal Williams. With the Green Bay running back situation unclear for Week 9, Jones’ return can’t come faster.

5.) Ernie’s Rubber Duckies

Overall Record: 5-3
Divisional Record: 3-1
Total Points Scored: 608.6
Position Last Week: 8
Notes: Tom Brady continues to impress and find an elite red zone chemistry with Mike Evans. My biggest question moving forward is how Evans’ target share will be affected with the arrival of Antonio Brown to Tampa.

6.) Philippine Garbage Dumps

Overall Record: 5-3
Divisional Record: 3-1
Total Points Scored: 650.4
Position Last Week: 5
Notes: Bad news for the Garbage Dumps who learned that second round pick George Kittle’s injury appears to be long term and a season ender. Now the Dumps will attempt to rally behind the strong bench depth as they continue to vye for a return to the playoffs.

7.) Dr. Jenious

Overall Record: 4-4
Divisional Record: 4-0
Total Points Scored: 727.6
Position Last Week: 6
Notes: The Jenious continues to tumble down the power rankings after a dominant start to the season and it all correlates to the decline of Josh Allen’s play in the last month. If the third year quarterback can turn it around, this team has enough firepower to make a deep playoff run.

8.) Sacramento Wolfpack

Overall Record: 4-4
Divisional Record: 3-1
Total Points Scored: 608.6
Position Last Week: 7
Notes: This team continues to get hammered with injuries as it was reported in the middle of the week that Matthew Stafford will be on the COVID reserve list. How this team manages to be at .500 with such a banged up roster is an accomplishment in itself.

9.) Gandalf the Goat

Overall Record: 4-4
Divisional Record: 2-2
Total Points Scored: 639.8
Position Last Week: 10
Notes: That’s why you draft Patrick Mahomes in the first round. 416 passing yards, 5 touchdowns, zero turnovers and a week high 46.1 fantasy points. No more analysis is necessary.

10.) Team Banana Boat

Overall Record: 4-4
Divisional Record: 2-2
Total Points Scored: 630.7
Position Last Week: 9
Notes: Disappointing week for Carson Wentz who faced the worst defense in the league and managed a pathetic 0.5 fantasy points in the week. This should have been a ceiling game and is the type of inconsistent play that will hurt the Banana Boat’s playoff pursuit.

11.) SLAM BALL 2K20

Overall Record: 3-5
Divisional Record: 1-3
Total Points Scored: 732.1
Position Last Week: 11
Notes: Everyone is worried about COVID meanwhile Sammi and I got the Zeke-a virus.

12.) Uur UPS

Overall Record: 3-5
Divisional Record: 1-3
Total Points Scored: 670.8
Position Last Week: 12
Notes: With so many starters on bye week, this was kind of a scheduled loss for the UPS. However with their slow start they can’t afford any more losses and pretty much have to run the table to have an opportunity to get into the playoffs…enter Christian McCaffrey.

13.) Lin Sanity

Overall Record: 3-5
Divisional Record: 0-4
Total Points Scored: 721.5
Position Last Week: 14
Notes: I have to admit I was completely wrong about Travis Fulgham’s declining role in the Philadelphia offense. He has scored in four of five games since being elevated to a starting role and looks to be the go to guy for Wentz moving forward and should be respected as a high WR2.

14.) Whit-ie the Trash Bag

Overall Record: 2-6
Divisional Record: 2-2
Total Points Scored: 612.2
Position Last Week: 13
Notes: The Trash Bag made news the past week trading two running backs Damien Harris and David Montgomery for Le’Veon Bell. It was the kind of risky move you have to make to turn your season around and invest in a good player on the best offense in the league but unfortunately it did not pay off this week.

15.) Da Moon’s Huge Craters

Overall Record: 2-6
Divisional Record: 0-4
Total Points Scored: 590.5
Position Last Week: 16
Notes: You have to respect the grit of a former champion who has scraped together a roster off of free agency and gotten their second win of the season in a cursed and lost season.

16.) The Pool of the Dead

Overall Record: 2-6
Divisional Record: 0-4
Total Points Scored: 590.5
Position Last Week: 15
Notes: What a roller coaster couple of weeks for the Pool who after taking down the #1 seed a week ago now lose to the last place team to find themselves at the bottom of the power rankings.
