1.) Mahomies Deezflated Nuts
Overall Record: 10-3
Divisional Record: 5-1
Total Points Scored: 1048.2
Position Last Week: 1
Notes: Mahomies Deezflated Nuts have done what has never been done before: been the first team to secure the #1 seed two years in a row. If they can combine that with a back to back championship run, we will bee witnessing the dawn of a new dynasty.
2.) Sacramento Wolfpack
Overall Record: 9-4
Divisional Record: 4-2
Total Points Scored: 1100.7
Position Last Week: 2
Notes: After winning GM of the Year, the Wolfpack will now rest their players on their bye week which will be a great opportunity to evaluate Dalvin Cooks’ availability in two weeks.
3.) Korriban Warriors
Overall Record: 8-5
Divisional Record: 2-4
Total Points Scored: 1003.5
Position Last Week: 3
Notes: The Warriors claim the King of the North after a disastrous start to the season. It was remarkable how strong they were outside of the division in the middle weeks, but now will host division rival Pool of the Dead of whom they lost both season series games against.
4.) Bruce Almightys
Overall Record: 6-7
Divisional Record: 3-3
Total Points Scored: 923.5
Position Last Week: 4
Notes: Bruce Almightys win the South after a long and challenging season for the division as Bruce will be the only sub .500 team in the playoffs. But none of that matters now because step 1 was to get into the playoffs where anything can happen. Now they will count on Nick Chubb to win a championship.
5.) SLAM BALL 2K19
Overall Record: 9-4
Divisional Record: 5-1
Total Points Scored: 1179.2
Position Last Week: 5
Notes: SLAM BALL finishes as the points scored leader in the 2019 season but were unsuccessful in winning the division and will start the playoffs on the road at the FFC South champion Bruce Almightys.
6.) Pool of the Dead
Overall Record: 7-5-1
Divisional Record: 4-2
Total Points Scored: 920.3
Position Last Week: 9
Notes: The final playoff team, the Pool of the Dead have been enjoying the success of Derrick Henry who is in the middle of his best statistical season of his career by far. The question mark going forward will be the same as all season: is Daniel Jones going to be the quarterback of a championship team?
7.) Team Banana Boat
Overall Record: 7-6
Divisional Record: 4-2
Total Points Scored: 1113.6
Position Last Week: 10
Notes: The Banana Boat were one of the most fascinating teams in the entire league and it is a complete mystery how they did not make the playoffs. When you nail the first three rounds in the draft and have one of the best running back seasons in recent memory, it is a crying shame they will be watching the playoffs when they have a championship caliber team.
8.) Phillipines Garbage Dumps
Overall Record: 7-6
Divisional Record: 3-3
Total Points Scored: 931.7
Position Last Week: 6
Notes: Another frustrating end of the season for the Garbage Dumps who put out one of their worst performances of the season in a must win game. The fact that Aaron Jones had been so dominant all season and then put up a dud in a win or go home game is one of the cruel realities of fantasy football.
9.) Elk Grove Spartans
Overall Record: 7-6
Divisional Record: 2-4
Total Points Scored: 983.1
Position Last Week: 7
Notes: The Spartans narrowly miss the playoffs and the division title by one game as they lose to the rival Wolfpack in the final week of the regular season. The team has demonstrated some of the greatest in-season management and start/sit decisions all season long but in the end they just did not receive consistent superstar numbers from Alvin Kamara to get over the hump.
10.) Ernie’s Rubber Duckies
Overall Record: 7-6
Divisional Record: 2-4
Total Points Scored: 995.8
Position Last Week: 8
Notes: This team was on a monster tear in the middle of the season but things started falling apart in the latter half of the season. The Patriots defense demonstrated one of the most dominant single season performances that were able to carry a team and cover the loss of a high draft pick in Antonio Brown, but in the end you just need more playmakers to win in a competitive division race.
11.) Lin Sanity
Overall Record: 6-7
Divisional Record: 3-3
Total Points Scored: 1108.2
Position Last Week: 11
Notes: This is another interesting team that I have been following closely over the last few weeks. If there was such a thing as buying stock in GMs I would put all my money on Marvin to be the biggest climber next season. Despite drafting two of the most disappointing players in fantasy (Beckham and Mixon), they showed some incredible in season management via free agency and trades to put up one of the top 4 scoring teams and finish the season one game under .500 after a terrible start.
12.) Dr. Jenious
Overall Record: 6-7
Divisional Record: 4-2
Total Points Scored: 1067
Position Last Week: 12
Notes: I might sound like a broken record, but this team is right up there with Banana Boat and Lin Sanity for “how the hell did this team miss the playoffs?” All the numbers scream that this was the best team in the South (division record, points, talent on roster) but it was a weird year in the FFC South and they lost both head to head games to Bruce which ended up being the difference.
13.) Da Moon’s Huge Craters
Overall Record: 5-7-1
Divisional Record: 3-3
Total Points Scored: 916.5
Position Last Week: 13
Notes: The Craters were an interesting case study in how a wide receiver heavy team looks in 2019. Without a solid running game all season long and questionable quarterback play, the team far underperformed to the level of the talent acquired on draft day. I think this is the season people can confidently put Aaron Rodgers outside of the top 5 at QB.
14.) The People’s Goat
Overall Record: 4-9
Divisional Record: 1-5
Total Points Scored: 977.7
Position Last Week: 15
Notes: This is the classic case of demonstrating the importance of a fantasy quarterback in this league. When a team is strong at all positions except the most important one, you get a season like the one the People’s Goat had where ultimately they get derailed by inconsistent and unpredictable QB production.
15.) Uur UPS
Overall Record: 3-10
Divisional Record: 2-4
Total Points Scored: 912.1
Position Last Week: 15
Notes: I think this season officially marks the divorce between UPS and Jared Goff who has been awful and tanked the team with turnovers all season long. UPS made quite a lot of significant moves to shake up the roster including trading Nick Chubb and then trading DeAndre Hopkins who was acquired in the Chubb trade but never found any stability.
16.) The 1st Year Kitties
Overall Record: 2-11
Divisional Record: 1-5
Total Points Scored: 1015.4
Position Last Week: 16
Notes: I can’t really explain how the Kitties ended up in this position. You have to imagine missing your first round pick for a significant chunk of the beginning period of the season is the primary reason. The Kitties will look to rebound in 2020 after the season from Hell.
